Why become a member

Membership in the professional organization representing toxicology in Canada, providing a recognized voice for matters affecting policy and funding.

Our membership, broadly representing industry, government and academic institutions across Canada, is comprised of individuals whose interests range from fundamental and basic to clinical, environmental and applied toxicology. Membership benefits

ANNUAL SYMPOSIUM

Members receive reduced rate registration fees for the STC Annual Symposium. This first-class symposium emphasizes recent advances in toxicology and provides opportunities:

  • to meet with colleagues sharing common interests from industry, government, and academia.
  • to present their latest research findings in toxicology,
  • to enhance graduate student training and the opportunity to receive travel awards for students.

STC NEWS/NOUVELLES

Members receive the official newsletter of the Society, STC News/Nouvelles, which provides a Canadian perspective on toxicological news. In addition to many features including regular editorial columns, the newsletter provides a forum for all members to express their views on toxicological issues.

MEMBERSHIP IN IUTOX

STC is a member society of the International Union of Toxicology whose members include national and regional societies acknowledged as the primary organisation of scientists in toxicology or a related discipline in a particular country or region. The mission is to improve human health through the science and practice of toxicology world-wide.  Member societies host the IUTOX triennial International Congress of Toxicology (ICT) and the Congress of Toxicology in Developing Countries (CTDC).

MEETING NOTIFICATIONS

Members receive notifications of national and international conferences, meetings and workshops.

POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWS AND GRADUATE STUDENT RATES

Post-doctoral fellows and graduate students receive reduced rates for membership and for symposium registration fees.

PUBLIC AWARENESS INITIATIVES

(e.g. “Principles of Toxicology” document and slideset, “Toxicology Education in Canada” document).

Opportunity to participate in the development of the discipline of toxicology in Canada, through membership on STC committees and on the Board of Directors.
